Bedwetting Hypnosis: Dry Nights For Kids

Does your child still wet the bed during the nighttime? Do you still have to wash the sheets every day? Frustrating isn’t it? Not just for you but your child as well.

It can have a significant impact on an adolescent’s life as they feel embarrassed and ashamed. They may hesitate to have sleepovers or go away on school trips due to their lack of bladder control.

Let’s take a look at what bedwetting is and how you can cure it.

What Is Bedwetting?

Bedwetting, known as nocturnal enuresis (NE) medically, is a pediatric concern that might follow kids into their teenage years if not paid attention at the right time. It’s a condition where the child continues to wet the bed at least two times per week after 5. Most children usually outgrow bedwetting by the age of 5.

But in some cases, treatment isn’t so simple and may require professional help to overcome the disturbance, worry, and anxiety that can make things worse.

What Are The Causes Of Bedwetting?

Bedwetting can be due to multiple reasons. The two most common ones are sleep apnea and constipation.  In each situation, the child can’t feel and identify a full bladder while they’re asleep.

The leading cause is constipation. A bloated bowel will shrink the capacity of the bladder by putting pressure on it continuously. Sleep apnea can also lead to bedwetting as the focus of the brain shifts from maintaining other bodily functions to maintaining proper oxygen levels.

How Can You Cure Bedwetting?

One of the most effective and safe method of ensuring drier nights for your child is hypnosis. It’s becoming an increasingly popular procedure to address underlying emotional or stress related issues.

A certified hypnotist will first inquire about the child’s history to look for any physical abnormalities. Next, they will look into the root cause of bedwetting to see if other practices need to be incorporated with the hypnosis sessions.

For example, if your child suffers from constipation, we’s also advise you to increase the fiber intake along with the hypnosis sessions so that the underlying cause is also simultaneously treated.

In hypnosis sessions with younger children, we encourage them to talk to their bladder and tell it to hold during the night.

With older children, we try to make a connection between their brain and the bladder. We explain to them how some part of their brain stays awake, and they can tell their bladder to talk to that part of the brain during the night to inform the bladder to either wake you up to go to the washroom when it’s full or hold it.
