Manage Stress With Self-Hypnosis Techniques

Even though everyone claims to be stressed, let’s take a moment to understand what stress is, how many people are actually suffering from it, and how it can be combated with appropriate techniques.

Statistics show that 43% of adults in the country claim that they are stressed—that’s almost half the population! In fact, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) considers stress a workplace hazard. Stress-related health issues amount to $150 billion in healthcare costs.

Despite so many people being affected by stress, it is often left untreated. This leads to severe emotional disorders such as depression.

You can choose to leave stress untreated or go for the more effective solution; self-hypnosis techniques allow people to manage stress and prevent it from becoming an obstacle in their life.

Treating stress with hypnosis

Hypnotists use hypnosis to dive into the depths of your brain to reveal the true source of your stress by putting you in a state of trance. The moment you’re in a state of trance, you’ll instantly feel a weight off your shoulder. In this state of mind, your conscious mind is disengaged and the subconscious is active. It’s relaxing and all the negative thoughts floating around your mind are silenced.

This state of deep relaxation can be achieved anywhere at any time with self-hypnosis.

Using self-hypnosis to treat stress

Self-hypnosis involves simple relaxations techniques such as deep-breathing exercises and positive self-talk to calm your mind and clear negative thoughts.

Try the following steps:

  • Sit in a comfortable position, holding your back up with your arms in your lap. Close your eyes and relax each part of your body.
  • Imagine yourself in a relaxing, serene environment by yourself. It can be anywhere that gives you peace.
  • Whatever place you visualize, tell yourself it takes 10 steps to get there. Imagine yourself taking those ten steps. If it’s at the beach, then visualize the sand on your feet. If it’s in some other natural environment, imagine your feet walking over the slightly wet grass.
  • As you get to your peaceful place, take a moment to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the silence. Stay in your peaceful place for as long as you need and slowly come out of it whenever you’re ready too.
